Don McCarthy

Don McCarthy is a Founding Partner, Chief Operating Officer (“COO”), and Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”) and member of the Investment Committee at Northampton Capital Partners. Mr. McCarthy is actively involved in the firm’s legal, compliance, human resources, and risk management issues as well as overseeing all other non-investment areas of the business.

Mr. McCarthy has spent over twenty-four years in C-level leadership roles throughout his career.

Prior to joining Northampton, Mr. McCarthy was a Partner, Co-COO, and CFO at Fir Tree Investment Partners (“Fir Tree”), a multi-strategy investment platform canvassing both hedge fund and private equity investments, for over thirteen years. Mr. McCarthy was Co-Chair of the Risk Committee and Chair of the Valuation Committee and was a participant in several operational and business risk due diligence panels over his tenure at Fir Tree.

Prior to Fir Tree, Mr. McCarthy spent nine years as a Partner and CFO of JD Capital Management, a multi-strategy hedge fund. In his role, Mr. McCarthy was integrally involved in all start-up related functions.

Mr. McCarthy also worked at Convergence Asset Management and Tudor Investments earlier in his career. Mr. McCarthy started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor in their financial services practice.

Mr. McCarthy received a B.S. degree in Accounting from Fordham University and is a CPA (inactive). Mr. McCarthy currently serves as a Senior Advisory Board Member for the Alternative Investment Program at Fordham.
